***FREE 30 HOUR FUNDING (for 3 and 4 year olds) FROM SEPTEMBER 2017***

Dear Parents/carers

From September 2017 we will be rolling out Free 30hours of childcare for 3 and 4 year olds.

Please note , not all childcare providers will be offering the 30hrs due to opening hours.
But your Free 30 hours can be taken at up to two sites each day, and up to three providers in a year.

How can the 30 hours be offered?
During summer 2016 the government carried out a consultation about the 30 hour free childcare entitlement and shared their consultation response (PDF) (you can find this on Gov.uk).

Highlights in the response are that early years free entitlements (15 and 30 hour):
* Must be provided over no fewer than 38 weeks each year.
* Should be able to be stretched over the full year, if possible.
* Can be delivered between 6am and 8pm, (but no more than 10 hours a day).
* Can be taken at up to two sites each day, and up to three providers in a year.

However at Building Blocks Preschool we will provide a continuous service and offer all our eligible children 30 hours.

So what is the free childcare deal?

In a nutshell, many working parents of 3 to 4-year-olds in England will be eligible for 30 hours of free childcare - rather than the current 15 hours. This is for 38 weeks per year ; it's equivalent to school term times. In theory, you may be able to spread the free childcare out over further weeks ( 51 weeks), but this will mean you'll get fewer than 30 hours free childcare each week.

When will it start?
The scheme is scheduled to go nationwide in SEPTEMBER 2017.

Will my child get it?
Not everyone is eligible - the extra 15 hours are only available to working parents who work more than 16 hours a week and earn under £100,000 per year. This is different to the current free childcare scheme which is open to everyone.

It also only applies to families living in England.

To be eligible for 30 hours free childcare:

Your child will be aged 3 or 4 when the scheme starts in your area;
You'll work more than 16 hours per week;
You'll have an annual income of less than £100,000;
You'll live in England.

Will all nurseries offer this?
Most will - but some nurseries may not be able to offer the flexible 30 hours free childcare.

Please remember you will be entilited to this funding the term after your child's 3rd birthday.
